A new study has revealed that if people want to be seen as attractive to the opposite sex they could do worse than picking up some litter.  Zoosk conducted the survey finding that our love, or not, for the environment can affect our chances with the opposite sex.

April 22nd is World Earth Day, the Earth Day Network is an organisation which aimes to raise awareness on environmental problems.  The first Earth Day took place in 1970 and it saw 20million Americans get involved in environmental activities, it is now a global event and this years focus is the end of plastic pollution.

Deposit Return Scheme for Plastic Bottles to be Announced

After months of calling for a deposit return scheme to be implemented in the UK, it is looking likely it will be announced shortly with the aim to increase the recycling rates with plastic litter.  The idea would be for the customer to receive a deposit back when they return their empty bottles to a reverse vending machine.

Stories this week include residents in Cumbria have promised to help keep their street clean after taking part in a litter pick despite the freezing weather conditions, a new project alled Adopt a Street was given a boost recently when a group of pupils joined to help from a local primary school.  Finally Dudley council are taking a zero tolerance approach to litter bugs especially when it comes to dog fouling.

Charity Uses Drone to Help Fight Against Litter on Beaches

Science and charity are combining to help recruit members of the public to help with beach cleans, Plastic Tide have been using drones to fly over beaches to take images of the litter on the beaches, these images are then uploaded onto a website where volunteers can see the pictures and then tag the litter they see.
