One of the changes introduced at Scotland's first summit on marine litter was to give communities funding to help them reduce plastic consumption.  It brough together retailers, environmental groups and manufacturers to discuss potential new ways to reduce the amount of plastic in Scotlands waters.

Keep Scotland Beautiful Launches Week of Action to Tackle Roadside Litter

Keep Scotland Beautiful is encouraging people in Dumbarton to join them for a week of action to help tackle roadside litter.  In the first month of the clean up it had 374 volunteers with a further 4000 people have already signed up for the next one.

Charities Join Forces to Tackle Scotland's Marine Litter

3 Charities have joined forces to launch Scrapbook, which involves pilots and photographewrs to help identify litter and pollution hotspots and taking photos of them.  The project hopes to raise awareness about the extent of marine litter and will help with the removal of as much as possible.

Global Fight Against Litter - Scotland

Scotland are encouraging all businesses and local councils to join a campaign to help prevent littering and flytipping across the country.  Zero Waste Scotland say taxpayers are currently paying over £50 million per year and that 15,000 tonnes of litter is discarded in Scotland each year.
